The Middle School program offers courses intended to develop not only content knowledge but also critical, creative, and abstract thinking skills. Concordia Prep guides students to become respectful, responsible, and reflective students and citizens. By exposing students to a wide range of courses in the Middle School, Concordia Prep places an emphasis on the development of writing skills, analytic skills, and effective communication.

Middle School At Concordia Prep

Concordia Preparatory School is affiliated with the Lutheran Church Missouri-Synod and offers a college-preparatory curriculum. Following the example of Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit, Concordia Preparatory School equips students to grow spiritually as they succeed academically and develop socially and physically; the school motto is “All to the Glory of God”.

The Middle School years serve as a bridge between grade school and high school. It is vitally important during these three years of middle level education that students are prepared for the challenges of high school. Concordia Prep benefits students by instilling a spiritual foundation built upon the Rock of Jesus Christ.  With this foundation in place, our students are being equipped to go into ‘the real world’ knowing the true importance of faith, prayer and Christian friends.

Requirements

Concordia Preparatory School offers a rigorous, age-appropriate curriculum for its middle school students. Religion, English, Social Studies, Science, and Physical Education are grade-level courses. Students are placed in the appropriate level of Math and Language based on a placement test, previous coursework, and teacher recommendation.

Enrichment Electives

Enrichment and exploration are an important part of Concordia Prep’s middle school curriculum. Because of the eight-class “drop schedule,” middle school students are able to complete all core academic subjects and select from a variety of enrichment electives. The enrichment courses are generally one-semester in length and are designed to provide students the opportunity to explore various interests and disciplines. Many electives are offered each semester. Band and Spanish are full-year enrichment electives. Course offerings vary depending on student interest and faculty availability. Much effort is given to providing selections from many different disciplines. Enrichment classes can vary but generally include: include Art, Vocal Music, Band, Drama, School Newspaper, Computers, Robotics, and Public Speaking.
