Welcome Back! This year the administrative team has changed. Mr. Brent Johnson will serve as Headmaster and Upper School Principal. Mrs. Sara Welinsky will serve as the Assistant Principal and World Languages Department Chair. Mr. Curtis Miller will continue in his role as Middle School Principal and Dean of Students.
We are thrilled to welcome our new faculty to the CPS community:
Mrs. Kara Baney and husband Mr. Ryan Baney are joining us from Lincoln, Nebraska. Mrs. Baney graduated from Concordia Lutheran, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, majoring in Middle-Level Education. She is teaching Middle School Religion, Middle School Math, and Upper School Math. She is also the Varsity Girls’ Volleyball Coach.
Mr. Ryan Baney holds two degrees from Concordia University, Nebraska: a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Geography and Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a Lutheran Teacher Diploma. He is teaching Middle School Religion, Middle School Social Studies, and Upper School History as well as coaching Middle School Cross Country and Middle School Basketball.
Mr. Chris Genszler joins us from Oregon, OH. He graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He is an Upper School Religion Teacher and the Chapel Coordinator. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar, working on carpentry projects, and writing fiction. He has one book published, a medieval action adventure, and is working on a second, which is a collection of letters from God’s gardener to God.
Ms. Anna Heckel ’10 is returning to Concordia Prep after graduating from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology. She is coming to Concordia Prep from St. Elizabeth School. She is currently working on her master’s degree from the University of Maryland. Between working full-time and graduate courses, she enjoys trying to master a variety of DIY projects, such as creating a winter quilt and restoring a 1920s steamer trunk. She is teaching Middle School English, Middle School Spanish, and Upper School English.
Mr. Emmanuel Holder, who has been working with the football program for the past year, is teaching PE, Weight Training, and Technology. He is a native of Baltimore, Maryland and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Towson University in 2016.
Ms. Heather Mattes ’96 is an alumna and an experienced teacher with 17 years of experience teaching in private Christian schools in the Baltimore area. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Towson University. Ms. Mattes is teaching Middle School Science and Middle School Social Studies. Outside of school, she participates in two community bands and her church choir.
Mrs. Emily Mori ’12 is joining us as the Director of Student Resources (STAR) and is also teaching Psychology. Mrs. Mori has six years of experience working with individuals who have learning disabilities, special needs, and mental health problems. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction in Special Education at Liberty University.
Mrs. Barbara Ross holds Bachelor of Science and MT(ASCP) from Loyola College now Loyola University. She has taught in private schools as well as Baltimore County Public Schools. She started her career as a microbiologist and research retrovirologist specializing in HIV research and worked on the first drug approved for the treatment of HIV. Mrs. Ross served as a substitute teacher in our Science Department last spring.
Mrs. Amanda Trapani is the new Director of Technology. Mrs. Trapani is joining us from The Catholic High School where she served as the Director of Technology for the past eight years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Towson University. She has 16-years of experience in the Information Technology field.
