From Middle School Principal Mr. Curtis Miller
How blessed are we as God’s people here on earth? Often in the stretch between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I go through a personal time of reflection and analyze all that God has blessed me with, but even more importantly I ponder the things that I often forget to be thankful for daily. God has and continues to bless Concordia Preparatory School as a community of believers rooted in God’s love focused on developing young servant leaders. God has blessed many outstanding professionals with the gifts and heart to work with young people each day. God has blessed thousands of students over the years with gifts that he will use for His kingdom. If we were asked to list all the blessings we receive, I cannot fathom the length of the list we all would compile detailing the blessings we receive. A verse that reflects these blessings is found in 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
The second half of this verse can be lost focusing on the blessings, but it is as important as the beginning. We will be able to abound in every good work. During this Christmas season, I pray we all take the time to analyze our blessings and in return abound in every good work. One song that resonates with me when I look at my blessings and ways to help others with my blessings, I come back to a song by Casting Crowns “If We are the Body”. The song explains if we are the Body of Christ, what are we doing with the wonderful blessings we have received? This often hits home during the Christmas season as we are showered with presents, surrounded by family, and celebrating Christmas and a new year. Seeing the body of Christ in action is an amazing experience.
During this Christmas season, I pray God will encourage us all to identify our blessings, to abound in good works, and share our blessings with those around us in need. Concordia Preparatory School is currently holding a Baby Shower for Jesus to collect baby products to be given to the Lutheran Mission Society. These are the hands and feet of Jesus active in our community and supporting those in need. May God bless us all during this Christmas season. May we all enjoy valuable time with family and friends. May God continue to bless us all abundantly so we all may abound in every good work. Merry Christmas!
