Concordia Prep Hires Samantha Kress as Cheerleader Coach and Kevin Totaro as Varsity Men’s Lacrosse Coach
Ms. Samantha Kress is new Concordia Prep cheerleader coach. She is a junior at Towson University majoring in elementary and special education. She was a competitive cheerleader for eight years and a coach for the Jarrettsville Rec program in Harford County for six years. When she is not in school or coaching, she is a preschool teacher at Celebree Learning Center and a Harford County public school substitute.
Mr. Kevin Totaro enters the 2018 season in his first year as the Concordia Preparatory School Head Coach. Totaro, previous Head Coach at Missouri Valley College decided this past summer to move back home and bring his winning touch from MVC to the Fighting Owls Men’s Lacrosse team at Harford Community College as he was hired as the Offensive Assistant Coach. Totaro even brought several of his players to Bel Air to play for Harford CC and those players will provide a boost for the Fighting Owls this spring. Even though Totaro enjoyed being on staff at Harford CC this past fall, he was presented with a opportunity with Concordia Preparatory School. Totaro is eager to build the Saints boys varsity lacrosse program.
Totaro, a native of Fallston, Md., took the helm of the Missouri Valley College men’s lacrosse team with the program’s first season in 2014. Coach Totaro led the Vikings to a GRLC Division II championship, an appearance in the 2014 MCLA Division II National Tournament and a 15-2 record. Totaro duplicated that success in year two, guiding Missouri Valley to another GRLC Division II title, second-straight appearance in the MCLA Division II National Tournament and a final record of 11-2. In 2016, Totaro led the men’s lacrosse team to both a GRLC Division II championship along with regular season and postseason tournament championships in the KCAC. The Vikings made a third-straight appearance into the MCLA Division II National Tournament and qualified for the first-ever NAIA Men’s Lacrosse National Invitational. Missouri Valley finished as National runner-up to finish the 2016 season and was honored with six NAIA All-Americans and three MCLA All-Americans, finishing with a 20-4 overall record. In 2017, the Vikings went the entire regular season ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, and repeated as the regular season and postseason tournament champions in the KCAC. The team swept the individual awards in the KCAC, and Totaro was named Coach of the Year. The team appeared in the National Invitational for the second-straight year, advancing to the semifinals and finishing the season ranked No. 3 in the NAIA and a 14-2 overall record. Totaro’s career record at Missouri Valley was 62-11.
Raised in Harford County, Totaro graduated from Harford Tech High School in 2004 where he played football and lacrosse earning second-team All-County lacrosse honors; leading the county in goals scored and was second in overall points. He attended Harford Community College, playing for the school’s lacrosse team for two years. Totaro then attended Shenandoah University from 2008-2010, playing Division III lacrosse for the Hornets and serving as senior captain, leading the team in scoring.
Totaro started his coaching career at Northern Virginia Community College as an Assistant Coach as well as a brief stint as an Assistant Coach at CCBC Catonsville.
Totaro resides in Bel Air, Md with his wife Natalie and sons Keaton and Karson.
