Art Club Operation Christmas Child Project
It’s time to think inside the box….The Art Club is starting the Operation Christmas Child project. We will be packing shoeboxes with gifts and supplies to send to children living in poverty around the world. A gospel booklet is included. This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to participate in the great commission to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the nations. Please bring in standard sized shoeboxes starting today & throughout the collection period. Take all items to the art room 105 on the lower level of the upper school building.
Read stories about the children that will be aided by this collection:
In a remote area of Guyana 11-year-old Donessa first heard the Gospel at an Operation Christmas Child event & prayed to receive Jesus Christ into her heart. She had never gotten a present before. They could barely afford food & basic necessities. Her life has become very different. Now Donessa shares her faith with everyone she meets.
Oct. 2-6 is Hygiene Week: Please bring toothbrushes, bar soap in the box or a “zip bag”, combs, brushes & washcloths to the Art Room 105. NO TOOTHPASTE, LIQUIDS or AEROSOLS, please.
In rural Zambia poverty and lack of hope lead to divorce which often leads to children being abandoned because their parents can’t take care of them. However, since an Operation Christmas Child event in his community, Emmanuel’s life, along with dozens of other boys are beginning to change. His needs are being met. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and is regularly attending Sunday School.
Oct. 9 – 13 is School & Art Supplies Week: Please bring pencils, crayons, markers, writing pads & coloring books to the Art Room 105. NO USED ITEMS.
“You have to have a tough heart to live in Havana Namibia”, said the child. It is a makeshift community of corrugated metal houses with no electricity or running water. Sixty children gathered at a local church for an Operation Christmas Child event. Many received salvation and eternal hope through Jesus Christ. “We learned that Jesus is our sole provider.”
Oct. 16 – 27 is Toys for Girls and Boys Week(s): Please bring small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, yo-yos, jump ropes, slinkys etc. NO USED or WAR RELATED items. Toys must be SMALL enough to FIT INTO a SHOEBOX. Bring them to room 105.
It’s happening all across Cambodia. Children receive shoebox gifts and hear the message of eternity through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Hope comes to impoverished children trying to survive in a nation recovering from genocide & a civil war that killed nearly one-quarter of the population.
Oct. 30 – Nov. 3: Monetary Donations for the cost of shipping the shoeboxes will be collected this week. It costs $9.00 to send each box. Please share whatever amount you can to help send shoebox gifts with a Gospel booklet in the child’s language so they can hear the great news of Jesus Christ their Savior. Checks should be written to Samaritan’s Purse. Bring donations to room 105.
