Principal’s Ponderings
Showers of Blessings
Showering is definitely a blessing, especially to those around us! As a new mother, I remember how blessed I felt when someone watched the baby so I could shower. I felt like a normal person again. Water is a blessing, of course, but too much can seem like something very different.
Two summers ago, we experienced a burst pipe in the Biology room, which became a flood in the entire lower level of the building. Water didn’t feel like much of a blessing then. An already busy time became a complicated and busier time as clean-up and replacement of floors, furnishings, and educational materials took place in the last few weeks of summer. With much hard work, and surely by God’s grace, we were able to start school on time. We were blessed with refurbished classrooms and new equipment and materials.
It is hard to comprehend the immense impact of Hurricane Harvey on our brothers and sisters in Houston, with schools preparing to open just as the skies opened up with rain. Yet, those destructive showers created a way for us to share our blessings with others. With only two days’ notice, the CPS family came together and gathered a huge amount of food and supplies, which were sent to Houston. During our recent dress down day, students raised almost $850 for Houston.
Each parent, student and staff member is a precious blessing from God, and we have been showered with blessings this year. As we remember that everything we have is His, we are reminded to show love each day. It may feel like hard work sometimes, but it is a joy to shower God’s blessings on others. We are blessed to be a blessing.
