Principal’s Ponderings
Investing in the Rock
Welcome to a new year at CPS! What an exciting time to be a Saint! No matter how long I work in education, I still feel excited about the beginning of the school year. On Sunday afternoon, I walked down the quiet upper school hallway with my husband, a 1980 graduate. He commented on the shiny terrazzo floors, saying, “They sure were a good investment.” The stone flooring was a sacrifice and a financial stretch for the young school back in 1965, but here they are, 53 years later, strong and beautiful. And here we are as a school 53 years later, growing by God’s grace, still strong, and continuing to strengthen with updated curriculum, technology and facilities. I am reminded of the many people who have invested in these hallways since 1965. For parents, students, and staff, it is an investment in something much more important than floors. It is an investment in God’s children, teaching them not just AP Calculus and Robotics, but more importantly, sharing the Good News of God’s love and Christ’s sacrifice for them on the cross. That’s why we exist as a school. The next time you walk down the hallway of the upper school, remember the feet which have walked before you, and be reminded of the sacrificial investment God made for them and for you. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
